Improve Ltd is the Sector Skills Council for food and drink manufacturing in the UK. An employer-led organisation, Improve’s vision is to provide ‘world class skills for a world class sector’, to help employers achieve world class productivity and higher profits through skills.
The food and drink sector is the largest within UK manufacturing, and is worth £77.5 billion annually, and employs around 500,000 people in the UK. Improve has delivered:
- A Sector Skills Agreement and Sector Action Plan for the food and drink manufacturing industry;
- Developed new qualifications and standards to meet industry needs as part of the qualifications reform;
- Launched an employer led National Skills Academy.
Moving forward, Improve will drive the employer led qualifications strategy, support the development of vocational learning, promote sector entry and career development, provide insight to the sector skills issues and continue to engage with employers and giving them ‘a voice’.
